Friend of a Fisherman
Community Dinner
This month, one of our local small-boat fishermen underwent a medical procedure that will keep him out of commission for up to six months. The surgery is behind him, but the road to recovery will take time. For an independent fisherman, time off the water means time without income — something that would be a lot for any family to carry.
But this is what community is for.
Fishermen understand this better than anyone. It’s a dangerous job, and it demands heart, especially from the small-boat guys — the ones who choose the harder path because they believe in doing it with care and respect for the ocean. The ones who fish locally and responsibly, with a kind of stubborn devotion to keeping tradition alive.
This is the mosquito fleet: small but mighty, a band of brothers who persist on the human scale, not the industrial one.
On April 14th, we’re hosting a community table, Friend of a Fisherman Dinner, with all proceeds going directly to support him and his family during recovery. If you’ve ever loved a perfect piece of local fish, if you believe small local fishing matters, or if you simply want to stand behind the people who feed us, we would be honored to have you join us.
When one boat needs help, the fleet shows up. Thank you for showing up.
